Caleb Fairly is a late addition to Garmin-Sharp for the 2013 season.

The 25-year-old becomes the latest SpiderTech-C10 rider to find a team for next season following the Canadian squad’s decision to step back from racing in 2013.

Fairly has deep links to Garmin; he raced with the development U23 team in 2009 and 2010, capping that run with a stagiaire assignment before joining HTC-Highroad in 2011.

When that team collapsed without a new sponsor, Fairly joined the Canadian outfit. Now he makes another move as SpiderTech reconsiders its future.

“I’m very excited to be joining Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda,” Fairly said in a team release Wednesday. “I feel like I’m ‘re-joining’ them, as I grew up in their development team. I was excited when Jonathan offered me the opportunity to come back.”

Fairly’s palmarès include second at the 2010 Giro della Toscana and a win at the Tour of the Battenkill — over Floyd Landis — the same year. In 2012, he raced in Europe over the first half of the season, with 88th overall at the Tour de Suisse, before posting a fifth in stage 3 at the Tour of Utah.

“I had some of my best racing results in 2010 while riding for the development team and stagiairing for the pro team,” he said. “I want to build on that and become a valuable asset to the team. Having now spent time at other places, there is definitely something different about this team — I’ve missed it. I’m really happy to be back.”

Fairly is the latest addition to the team’s 2013 roster.

Other new arrivals include Nick Nuyens (Saxo-Tinkoff), Rohan Dennis (Jayco-AIS) and Lachlan Morton and Steele Van Hoff, who both jump up from the development squad, which is likely to shutter for 2013.

Riders leaving include Murilo Fischer (FDJ), Heinrich Haussler (IAM Cycling), Christophe Le Mevel (Cofidis), Thomas Peterson (Argos-Shimano) and Sep Vanmarcke (Blanco).
