Kirsten Wild (Argos-Shimano) won stage 2 of the Ladies Tour of Qatar Wednesday. Wild, the two-time Qatar champ, topped Specialized-lululemon teammates Trixi Worrack and Ellen Van Dijk in the 96km stage to Al Khor Corniche.

All three were part of a nine-rider group that formed in strong crosswinds 39km into the stage. The breakaway rode away from the peloton and through the day’s early escape to hold off the bunch by 1:12.

Overnight leader Chloe Hosking (Hitec Products) was there as well and finished fourth to defend her overall lead. She leads Gracie Elvin (Orica-AIS) by six seconds. Wild moved into third with her stage win, at nine seconds.

The four-day Ladies Tour of Qatar continues on Thursday with the 112km third leg from Al Thakhira to Madinat Al Shamal.
