Hinault on Armstrong — Sydney Morning Herald
French legend Bernard Hinault says the cycling world should “forget” Lance Armstrong in the wake of the Texan’s doping confession.
Hinault, speaking to Sydney Morning Herald during a visit to the Tour Down Under, said Armstrong is yesterday’s news.
“Armstrong is the past. The future is here,” Hinault said. “It is necessary to forget him … to forget him — pssssst — that is all.”
Hinault said he did not watch Armstrong’s televised confession last week. When asked how the French public reacted, Hinault said he didn’t care.
“I didn’t have the desire to (watch Oprah),” he said. “I don’t know (the reaction of the French public). I have not thought about the question. In any case, it doesn’t interest me. So I don’t ask questions of others.”
