Federation warned Armstrong and other riders with suspicious values — Vrij Nederland
In a teaser for its Thursday edition, Vrij Nederland reported on Tuesday that former UCI president Hein Verbruggen had confirmed that the sport’s governing body warned riders in the past of suspicious blood values.
The report names Lance Armstrong and Karsten Kroon among the riders warned over abnormalities in their blood profiles. Kroon, 26, rides for Saxo-Tinkoff and has never faced scrutiny in a doping case.
“There’s trouble in that you know more than you can say. That you have more questions publicly and you can not express,” Verbruggen said in the interview, which will appear in its entirety on Thursday. “Perhaps you convince him not to stop using drugs, and perhaps not.”
