The UCI has listed embattled Russian squad Katusha among the teams registered at the Pro Continental level for 2013.
It is unknown at this time if this is a temporary registration as the team awaits the outcome of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over its exclusion from the WorldTour by the UCI licensing commission.
An email to the UCI requesting comment was not immediately returned and the sport’s governing body has not issued a press release on the matter.
The team said last week it would pursue a second division license temporarily in order to open its season at the Tour de San Luis in Argentina next week. Team leader and 2012 WorldTour champion Joaquim Rodríguez is exploring options to leave the team in order to guarantee himself a place in the Tour de France. If a Pro Continental team, Katusha will need to rely on a wildcard invitation to contest the Tour.
