Jasper Stuyven (Bontrager) captured victory in stage 1 of the Tour de Beauce on Tuesday.
The Belgian won a bunch sprint ahead of Guillaume Boivin (Team Canada) and Andrea Peron (Novo Nordisk) in the 165-kilometer stage. The route, which started and ended in Lac-Etchemin, was hilly and undulating.
An early breakaway of two riders had a nine-minute lead on the peloton at one point before they were swallowed up in the final kilometers.
The six-day race continues Wednesday with the 152km stage 2, a hilly route that starts and ends in Thetford-Mines.
