Nathan Brown and Kaitlin Antonneau took top honors on day 2 of the USA Cycling Amateur & Para-cycling Road National Championships in Wisconsin on Thursday.
Brown (Bontrager) scored the men’s U23 time trial victory on a course in Waterloo, Wisconsin, that provided his Trek and Bontrager sponsors a front-row seat to the action. Brown rode the 29-kilometer course in 36:59.09, beating silver medalist Ty Magner (Hincapie Sportswear Development) by 29 seconds.
Steven Perezluha (AG Bicycles-Guttenplan Coaching) was third, at 40 seconds.
Brown was second to teammate Tanner Putt in Wednesday’s championship road race.
Antonneau (Exergy Twenty16) registered a time of 41:23.45 on the 29km course to distance second-placed Maura Kinsella (NOW-Novartis for MS) by 53 seconds. Jessica Prinner (Care4Cycling-Solomon Corp.) was third, at 1:29.
Logan Loader (CashCall Mortgage) won the elite men’s national title in 36:19.54 over teammate Chris Barton, at 34 seconds.
In the men’s junior 17-18 race, Michael Dessau (Slipstream-Craddock) took top honors, with a time of 25:22.69 over a 20km course. Zeke Mostov (Slipstream) was second, at just seven seconds.
Hannah Swan (Strive Racing) took gold in the women’s junior 17-18 race, loggin a 30:39.52 to edge Janelle Cole (West Michigan Coast Riders) by just two seconds.
