Kerry Werner (BMC Development) won the men’s U23 national title at the USA Cycling Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships at Bear Creek Resort in Pennsylvania on Friday.

Werner won after a chaotic final lap that saw the lead shift back and forth between the BMC rider, eventual silver medalist Russell Finsterwald (Trek Factory Racing), and bronze medalist Cameron Dodge (Scott).

Lucas Newcomb (Whole Athlete-Specialized) won the men’s 17-18 race over Luke Vrouwenvelder (Cycle Youth) and Sean Bennett (Specialized).

The cross-country national championships continues Saturday with men’s and women’s professional cross-country races capping a full day of amateur events.
