Wilco Kelderman (Belkin) donned the final yellow jersey in the 2013 Tour of Denmark on Sunday as Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) won the sixth and final stage.
Cavendish took the finale in a sprint finish from Bryan Coquard (Europcar) and Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp).
“When I came here I didn’t know how my form would be after the Tour de France. I was still a bit tired, and this race — despite being mostly flat in Denmark — is hard,” said Cavendish. “But the team rode really well. The team was always around me and supporting me.
“I really wanted to win today in Frederiksberg, because it is the third time I’ve won in three races here. This is almost like the Danish Champs-Élysées, so of course I am happy to close out the race with this kind of win.”
When the overall times were tallied, Kelderman topped the final general classification by 11 seconds over Lars Bak (Lotto-Belisol) with Matti Breschel (Saxo-Tinkoff) third at 15 seconds. He took the lead on Saturday after winning the stage-5 individual time trial.
