Stephen Hyde continued his early-season rise at the Mid-Atlantic Cyclocross Series over the weekend, winning on Sunday at Charm City Cross in Baltimore, Maryland. Helen Wyman swept the women’s events on Saturday and Sunday, and U.S. champion Jonathan Page rode to his first victory of the season in Saturday’s elite men’s race.
Wyman’s (Kona) victories gave her a second consecutive sweep of the UCI weekend in Baltimore.
Arley Kemmerer (C3 Twenty20), Nikki Thiemann (Team CF), Maureen Bruno Roy (Bob’s Red Mill-Seven Cycles), and Laura Van Gilder (Mellow Mushroom) fought it out for the podium behind the former British champion.
Kemmerer topped Thiemann for second on Saturday and Van Gilder, absent on day 1, beat Kemmerer for the runner up spot on Sunday.
In Saturday’s men’s race, Page (Fuji-Spy) was fastest from a six-man group, topping Lukas Winterberg (Mueller Landscape-BH) and Hyde (JAM Fund-NCC).
Hyde wouldn’t be denied on Sunday, leading Page onto the finish straight and taking victory. Page was second with MIke Garrigan (Van Dessel) third.
The MAC series continues on Oct. 12 with Whirlybird ‘Cross in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
