Pau to Hautacam (145.5km)
Thursday, July 24th 7:15 a.m. – 11:17 a.m. EDT This is another relatively short stage, at 145.5km. Compared to the previous day, the riders will undoubtedly feel that they are getting their breath back. It is fair to say that the elimination time limit will be less severe. However, this is not a stage that should be underestimated. First the riders will have to climb the Col du Tourmalet, which is always an adventure. Then there is the final ascent up to Hautacam, which over the years has become one of the Tour’s great arenas. Let’s hope that the Tourmalet doesn’t end up being a non-event, but that it acts as a springboard for what is to come.
