Armstrong teammate Hincapie pens stark memoir — Associated Press
George Hincapie is breaking his public silence over doping at the U.S. Postal Service with a memoir set to hit shelves in June. The Associated Press describes the book as “part memoir and part mea culpa” and talked with Hincapie in an exclusive interview.
“There were many times I said, ‘Why am I doing this?'” Hincapie told AP. “I wanted to tell my story and have the reader decide what to think about it.”
According to AP, the book includes a forward by former teammate Lance Armstrong.
“Drugs were so prevalent in that era that the decision itself, as our team saw it, was either play ball with everyone else or go home,” Armstrong wrote. “And now the world knows what George and I chose, and we have to live with the consequences for the rest of our lives.”
