Geraint Thomas considering other offers for 2015 — BBC

Geraint Thomas says he is considering leaving Sky after this season, as several teams have expressed interest in signing him.

Thomas, who has ridden for the British outfit since 2010, told the BBC “there’s been a lot of interest” in him.

“Obviously Sky is a great team but I think it’s good to have a look at other teams and what they have to offer,” Thomas said. “It gives your confidence a boost when there’s three or four teams that have offered you a good contract, so interesting times.”

Thomas said he expects his future to be decided this week.

Thomas won a track cycling gold medal in the team pursuit at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and has three gold and two silver world championship medals in the discipline. Last fall, he was part of the Sky team that finished third in the team time trial at the UCI Road World Championships.

Thomas opened the 2014 season with an eighth-place finish at the Santos Tour Down Under, and grabbed three top-10s in the spring classics: third at E3 Harelbeke, seventh at Paris-Roubaix, and eighth at the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders). In between, he was poised to finish on the podium at Paris-Nice before crashing in stage 7. He pulled out of the race the next day.
