POC AVIP charity auction to support spinal cord injury research

Protective gear brand POC will auction off four unique Cervelo road bikes, two limited-edition RCAs and two P5 time trial bikes, to support Spinalis, a charitable foundation whose mission is to promote research and treatment development in the field of spinal cord injuries.

Cervelo produced a limited number of its $10,000 RCA frames. The two RCAs included in POCs auction are valued over $20,000.

The auctions celebrate the launch of POC’s AVIP (Attention, Visibility, Interaction and Protection) concept, and are a result of a collaboration between POC, Cervelo, Fizik, 3T, Hed, Shimano, and TRP.

The auctions began on June 17th and will run through July 1st.

Caffelatex sealant app

How much sealant do you need? Somewhere between “some” and “a bunch” is the answer most would give. But CaffeLatex would like to be a bit more precise.

Tire sealant is a must for a dialed tire and wheel setup. Knowing how much sealant to use isn’t always intuitive, but with this new app you can calculate the quantity of sealant (specifcally CaffeLatex sealant, but we’d guess it would work with others as well) needed per wheel based on tire size, tire construction, and intended use. Whether you’re riding 26”, 29”, 27.5”, or fat tires the app will recognize any wheel size. The app also recognizes tubeless, tubeless-ready, tubular, and tube-type used as tubeless setups, and adjusts accordingly.

Sidi Dominator Fit camo edition

Italian shoe company SIDI just released their best selling mountain bike shoe, the Dominator Fit, with a unique camouflage pattern. The shoe features a caliper buckle and two-way ratchet system that allows for simple fit adjustments on the bike. Perfect for mountain or cyclocross racing, the Dominator is durable, and the Technomicro microfiber upper has mesh panels make for a breathable shoe. The camo finish will surely stand out (or perhaps blend in, if that’s more your style) and for $259.99 you can feel the comfort of the SIDIs Dominator in and out of the wild.

Praxis announces new 1x wide/narrow mtb rings and Campagnol Ultra Torque BB

Praxis, purveyor of fine forged chainrings, bottom brackets and other drivetrain paraphernalia, announced its new 1x narrow/wide chainrings this week. The rings use a 104 MTB BCD (bolt circle diameter) and are available from 32-38-teeth. The narrow/wide design helps keep the chain in place without the use of a front derailleur, though of course Praxis still recommends that you use its 1x rings with a roller clutched rear derailleur.

The company will debut 30t rings and a few cyclocross options soon.

Also announced was a new Campagnolo Ultra Torque conversion bottom bracket, based on Praxis’ popular expanding collet coversion BB. The new bottom bracket will allow Campagnolo customers to mount their Ultra Torque cranks on BB30 and PF30 frames quickly and easily.
