COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced today that Logan Loader (Amore e Vita), of Pacific Grove, Calif., has tested positive for a prohibited substance and accepted an eight-month suspension for his doping offense.

Loader, 25, tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine, as the result of an in-competition urine sample collected at the Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling on May 4, 2014. Methylhexaneamine is classified as a Specified Substance, and therefore the presence of that substance in an athlete’s sample can result in a reduced sanction.

Logan’s eight-month period of ineligibility began retroactively on May 4, 2014, the date his sample was collected. As a result of the violation, Loader has been disqualified from all competitive results achieved on, and subsequent to, May 4, 2014.

On his Facebook page, Loader wrote, “It’s with much regret and embarrassment that I must inform everyone that I tested positive for a substance that was an ingredient in an over-the-counter nutritional supplement I had taken during recovery from an injury. Tomorrow, USADA will announce my positive results. I want to personally apologize to my family, friends, teammates, and sponsors. I will take full responsibility for my failure to properly read the manufacturer’s label and check for prohibited substances and fully understand the consequences. At no point was I attempting to enhance my performance or take part in any unethical practices or sportsmanship. I am receiving an 8 month suspension effective May 4, 2014, the date I provided a sample during an in-competition test. I cannot stress the importance of checking the ingredients of every nutritional supplement and food product that an athlete ingests. This is a hard learned lesson I will never forget. I will continue to train and work hard toward next season when I will be eligible to compete again. As always, Thank You for your support and I look forward to a new start.”
