The Amy D. Racing program, a project of the Amy D. Foundation, has selected Erica Zaveta as its first recipient of an elite race sponsorship for the 2014-2015 cyclocross season.

Zaveta, 25, hails from Erwinna, Pennsylvania and now lives in Brevard, North Carolina where she recently graduated from Brevard College. She balances elite racing with part-time work at coaching company Sigma Human Performance. This season, she aims to finish consistently in the top-10 in elite women’s UCI races, with hopes of standing on the podium a few times as well.

“Erica is a great match for the Amy D. sponsorship,” said program manager Donn Kellogg. “She’s a top rider on the road, mountain bike, and cyclocross, and has really dedicated herself to the sport. I guess you could say she is a lot like Amy [Dombroski].”

Zaveta was 2013 collegiate national champion in cyclocross, short track, and downhill for Division II Brevard College. She also raced for the U.S. mountain bike national team and has elite European racing experience. Erica spent much of 2014 focusing on the domestic road circuit, while also finishing top-10 at mountain bike national championships.

Amy D. Racing’s goal is to sponsor a rider that embodies similar drive, passion, and focus that Dombroski had. Financial supporters include Raleigh, Clement, K-Edge, and Lazer. Additional support is provided by FSA, Vision, and TRP components. The Amy D. Racing program is managed by Donn Kellogg from the Raleigh-Clement Cyclocross Team, which will provide race and travel support throughout the season.
