The Albuquerque journal reports that Nathan Barkocy, 16, is in a coma after Marlin Austin, 55, hit him with a car, also injuring Barkocy’s coach, Stephen Williamson, in Albuquerque on Saturday. Austin was charged with careless driving.

Barkocy’s mother, Marybeth, said her son suffered a traumatic brain injury and is still in a coma at the University of New Mexico Hospital, although he is starting to become responsive. A GoFundMe page has been launched to help the Barkocy family cover medical expenses, and it has already raised more than $20,000.
