Three-time cyclocross national champion Tim Johnson has ridden up New Hampshire’s Mount Washington many times during his long career, but climbing it in the winter, on a fat bike was a first for him — and likely anyone. Johnson climbed 4,685 feet on an icy 14-percent grade in a little more than one hour, 45 minutes. The current record for climbing the Mount Washington Auto Road (in the summer) is held by Tom Danielson, 49 minutes, 24 seconds, set in 2002.
